課程概述 |
THIS COURSE SERVES AS AN INTRODUCTION TO CHINESE PHONOLOGY FROM BOTH DIACHRONIC AND SYNCHRONIC PERSPECTIVES. THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS. PART I COVERS IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF SYNCHRONIC CHINESE PHONETICS/PHONOLOGY, INCLUDING BOTH SEGMENTAL AND SUPRASEGMENTAL PHONOLOGY. READINGS AND CLASS DISCUSSIONS WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY ACOUSTIC ANALYSES OF SPEECH SOUNDS. PHONOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CHINESE AND SOME INDO-EUROPEAN LANGUAGES (I.E. FRENCH, SPANISH, ENGLISH, ETC) WILL BE DISCUSSED. THE HISTORICAL EVOLUTION OF CHINESE PHONOLOGY AS WELL AS THE ORIGIN OF TONE WILL ALSO BE PRESENTED. PART II EXPLORES CURRENT RESEARCH ISSUES IN MODERN CHINESE PHONOLOGY, SUCH AS TONE SANDHI IN CHINESE DIALECTS AS WELL AS DIMINUTIVE SUFFIXATION. |
